    Congratulations to Madonna!
Madonna has a huge year ahead of her, and she’s already getting some shine. At the Golden Globes on Sunday night (January 15), the pop star-turned-film director nabbed the Best Original Song prize for “Masterpiece,” which was featured in “W.E.,” which she wrote and directed.Taking the stage in her glittering Reem Acra-designed dress, Madge thanked the many collaborators who helped her write the song featured in her first feature film, which opens in wide release next month.

“This is a surprise,” she told the room, clutching her prize. “Thank you so much to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this acknowledgement. I need to thank my co-writers, Jimmy Harry and Julie Frost, my co-producer William Orbit, who’s not here, whom I adore.”

As her speech went on, she opened up a bit about the creation of the award-winning track, ignoring her exit music altogether.

“I would also like to thank my manager, Guy Oseary, who I spend most of my time beating up on,” she said. “But seriously, he harangued me for the entire time I was filming and editing my movie to write a song. And I said, ‘Please, Guy, I’m trying to focus on being a director and I want people to pay attention to the film and I don’t have time.’ So then I finished the film and I started making my record and somehow magically and miraculously the song emerged, ‘Masterpiece,’ so thank you, Guy Oseary, for being so irritating.”

As her speech wrapped up, she thanked her leading lady in the film, Andrea Riseborough, and producer Harvey Weinstein, whom she called the Punisher.
This is hardly Madonna’s first Golden Globe. She previously won Best Actress in Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for playing Eva Peron in “Evita.” “Masterpiece” is expected to appear on Madonna’s forthcoming new record, M.D.N.A. mtv.com

In an interview with the Mirror, asked about the No1 in her current music collection, Madonna replied Adele.

“I love Adele,” said Madonna. “I think she’s amazing and has an incredible voice. She impresses me most out of the new artists today.”

Civil rights activists as well as students all over the city gathered at Chicago’s Martin Luther King Jr. Library to talk about Martin Luther King Junior’s legacy. The group also talked about how racism is still prevalent in today’s society and pointed to a web and twitter campaign by Lady Gaga fans hoping to destroy the success of Madonna’s new album and tour.

The site features a gorilla with a caption that reads, “Here is the next child Madonna is planning to adopt.” Another post insults body parts of Muslims and several other posts are ageist in nature.

“I’m not a Madonna fan, but when did something like this become acceptable just because people have free access to the Internet?”

asked Albert Winston, a retired teacher at Martin Luther King Jr. College.” Several others noted that the “Monsters against Madonna” campaign was also trending on Twitter, with no repercussions

Alan Goldberg, a teacher at a private Jewish school in Skokie, talked about websites ran by conservatives such as Andrew Breitbart and Michelle Malkin where nasty comments about homosexuals, Latinos, and African Americans have become the norm.

“I’m not saying that we should ban free speech. But it becomes a point where free speech is being abused. Kids look at these websites and think it’s okay to bully others because – why not, adults do it!”

All of the participants of the discussion plan to participate in several parades during the weekend and this coming Monday. Do you think they are correct in saying that Internet hate speech has gone too far?

Talent agency CAA populates most of film and television with its star clients above and below the line, and managed to coax seemingly all of them to the Soho House in West Hollywood on Friday.

As part of the agency’s annual pre-Golden Globes celebration, the whole of the exclusive club was occupied by nominees and their famous cheerleaders. Where to begin? Madonna, Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon, Diddy, Michael Fassbender, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx.

And that’s to name a few. Some of our favorite scenes from the CAA bash were …

Girl talk: Madonna sat on the rear patio in a form-fitting red dress and motorcycle gloves with Demi Moore and some agent types, and kept cool as a cucumber when Moore’s ex Ashton Kutcher breezed in with his newly shaved face.

Madonna was also seen sitting with Sean Penn and obviously having a good time.

Senior reporter Jacob Bernstein hung out with Madonna for an upcoming piece in the January 30th issue of Newsweek, and got her thoughts on Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way.’

“I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song (‘Express Yourself’). I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was… interesting.”
